Phillip Truono
Director of Instruction
Phillip has taught over 12,000 lessons to players of all levels. He is passionate to help golfers achieve results and enjoy the game. He has worked with three of the top ten ranked instructors in the country and at the top ranked golf school in the country. He continues to network with the best coaches in the game.
In 2009 Phillip beat out the top professionals in the New England PGA section by winning the 2009 Sankaty Invitational. He played four years of Division 1 Collegiate Golf at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His students include a New York State Open Champion, former US Womens Senior Amateur Champion, former British Senior Open Winner, Collegiate Conference Champion and countless beginners.
Phillip is also a PGA Member, a TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor since 2003, and a Taylor Made Staff Member. In the winter he is a teaching professional at Boca Rio Golf Club and a short game instructor for Marius Golf.
David
Morris, Teaching Professional
David will join us for the summer months for his fourth season at Miacomet. Away from Nantucket David runs a golf academy in Nottingham, England. He is a member of both the British and Australian PGA.
He has trained and learned under top UK golf coach David Ridley. David grew up and continues to spend time with Ryder Cup member Oliver Wilson and Tour Player Greg Owen. David's friendly demeanor and english accent make him a fun guy to be around all of the time.
Abby KershnerTeaching Professional
Abby has a super impressive playing resume as a 7 time Maine Women's Amateur Champion and a 4 time Maine Schoolgirl champion. She played four years at the University of North Carolina and won a NCAA tournament.
Her experience and patience make her a great teacher. During the winter months Abby works at the prestigious Gasparilla Golf Club in Boca Grande, FL. She is also experienced in tournament operations, clubfitting, and merchandising.
Meghan Mahoney, Teaching Professional
Meghan turned professional in 2009 after an impressive amateur career. She played collegiate golf at Memphis and was Nantucket's best junior golfer of all time. She has spent the last year and a half competing in Florida in mini tour events and working at a Troon golf facility in Orlando. We are excited to have Meghan back for the 2010 season. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude make her a great instructor.
Josh KershnerAssistant Professional
Josh is a well rounded golf professional with experience in instruction, clubfitting and running tournaments. During the winter months Josh works at Lemon Bay CC in Southwest Florida. He is a PGA Apprentice, and former Assistant Professional at The Balsams Resort in New Hampshire and Val Halla Golf Club in Maine. In Maine Josh and his wife Abby ran a junior golf program that grew to 180 kids in two years.
Chris SaccoAssistant Professional
Chris joins us for his first season here on Nantucket. He comes to us from Northern California by way of Scottsdale, AZ. Chris is an experienced Golf Professional, well versed in teaching, merchandising and tournament operations. While he has spent the last 10 years at different country clubs on the west coast he is a New England native.
Jim DamianoPart Time Teaching Professional
Jimmy D is Co-Founder and partner with Phillip in the company Agility Golf that runs the Nantucket Golf Academy and professional services at Miacomet. When he is not in Nantucket Jimmy is a teaching professsional at the prestigous Glen Oaks Club in Old Westbury, NY. He visists the island throughout the summer for private lessons, custom schools, and to help run the large Monday Junior Golf Program. Jimmy is a former Master Instructor for the Jim McLean Golf Schools, aformer Assistant Professional at the Nantucket Golf Club and Castle Pines Golf Club. His enthusiasm for the game and positive approach make him an outstanding coach.
